Your Day to Day
- Provides strategic leadership and expert advice on Allied Health professional practice, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, collaboration, accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Provides direction to ensure Allied Health services comply with legislation, professional and accreditation standards, codes of ethics, and organizational policies, including appropriate governance and credentialing processes.
- Leads the development, implementation, and monitoring of Allied Health strategic priorities and initiatives that advance professional practice, workforce development, person- and family-centred care, and patient outcomes.
- Collaborates with clinical, operational, and corporate leaders to support integrated strategic planning, organizational change, and alignment with PHC’s vision and values.
- Provides leadership on scope of practice, skill mix, models of care, advanced practice, and inter-professional care to improve patient safety, access, outcomes, and flow.
- Advises operational leaders on optimizing models of care, including the appropriate mix of professions, roles, skills, education, and experience required to meet patient and service needs.
- Builds relationships with academic and external partners to support workforce planning, education, research, knowledge sharing, and preparation of future Allied Health professionals.
- Leads the development, implementation, evaluation, and monitoring of professional and clinical standards, policies, procedures, and guidelines that support safe, competent, ethical, and evidence-based care.
- Develops and supports discipline-specific and inter-professional practice communities that strengthen professional governance, collaboration, and consistent standards of practice across the organization.
- Provides Allied Health expertise on clinical systems, technology, products, and other organizational changes, including assessing impacts and recommending improvements.
- Addresses professional practice issues and facilitates collaborative resolution between operational, professional, and program leaders.
- Leads and supports Allied Health quality assurance, quality improvement, risk management, research, and knowledge translation initiatives.
- Champions culturally safe care and works collaboratively with Indigenous Reconciliation and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion partners to embed these principles within professional practice and workforce initiatives.
- Oversees the Allied Health Professional Practice portfolio’s human and financial resources, including budgets, staffing, equipment, and other operational requirements.
- Leads projects, develops business cases and funding proposals, identifies risks, and supports organizational and portfolio planning and implementation.
- Leads workforce planning for the portfolio, including recruitment, retention, performance management, education, and development of direct reports. Coaches and mentors team members to achieve individual, portfolio, and organizational goals.
- Maintains current knowledge of health care trends, legislation, professional practice standards, research, and emerging best practices to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.
- Performs other related duties as required.
