Summary

Providence Health Care operates six (6) long term care homes and one (1) assisted living home in greater Vancouver. The Director – Operations and Seniors Care is responsible for overseeing operations in these homes, providing leadership, consultation and direction to Site Leaders/Resident Care Managers, Operations Leaders, and Professional Practice. This role provides strategic direction and leadership for the experience and impact of care to enable Providence Health Care to become a leader in service quality and maintain its reputation for delivering exceptional quality care outcomes.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the following characteristics: 

  • Healthcare operations expertise: A strong foundation in operational workflows, regulatory requirements, and quality‑of‑care standards.

  • Skilled communicator: Able to collaborate effectively with internal teams, external partners, and clinical leaders.

  • Adaptability in dynamic environments: Comfortable navigating shifting priorities, evolving conditions, and rapid organizational change.

  • Leadership and coaching experience: Proven ability to mentor and support interdisciplinary professionals toward shared goals.

  • On‑site presence and mobility: Willing and able to work in-office and travel between long‑term care homes as needed.

What You Bring

Education
A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Master's Degree in Nursing or other relevant health care professional field, plus seven (7) to ten (10) years' recent, related experience in a complex health care environment or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Registration with the applicable college or association for health care profession.

  • Quality improvement: Demonstrated ability to design and implement quality assessment tools and systems.
  • Independent and collaborative work: Able to work autonomously and in partnership with multidisciplinary teams, with solid computer literacy in key applications.

Your Day to Day:

  • Co-develops philosophy, goals, policies, procedures and standards aligned with PHC Mission, Vision, Values, ensuring clear communication and implementation.
  • Supports oversight of long‑term care site operations and recommends structural, policy and service improvements.
  • Drives Seniors Care strategic priorities, manages projects, and prepares reports, presentations and briefing materials.
  • Builds internal and external collaborations to strengthen continuity of care across the health system.
  • Provides leadership to Site Leaders and Managers, defines responsibilities, allocates resources, and coordinates training and operational supports.
  • Sets expectations, conducts evaluations, coaches staff, and contributes to recruitment, retention and organizational design.
  • Applies collective agreements, manages grievances, investigates workplace issues, and administers discipline up to termination.
  • Assists with budget development and monitoring, conducts variance analysis, and oversees resource, equipment and space planning.
  • Represents Seniors Care at regional, provincial and national forums, advancing PHC interests and informing service decisions.
  • Leads major LTC/AL redesign projects, guides change management efforts, and ensures resident‑ and tenant‑focused service evolution.
