The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Perioperative nursing offers a different kind of nursing practice. You’ll care for one patient at a time, working alongside a highly skilled interdisciplinary team to support patients through some of the most significant moments in their lives.
As an OR Registered Nurse, you’ll play a central role in patient safety and coordination throughout the surgical journey. Your practice will combine clinical assessment and critical thinking with specialized technical skills, sterile practice, surgical safety, equipment management, patient advocacy, and interdisciplinary communication. Minimum Nurse-to-Patient Ratios (mNPR) set the minimum number of nurses required to safely care for patients on a given unit. Education:  

• You must be a registered nurse in Canada in good standing and be eligible for registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM)
• Completion of a post graduate operating room course, or two years’ recent experience in an equivalent setting

• Demonstrated competence in performing CPR procedures. 
• Experience in teamwork, decision-making and conflict resolution 
• Demonstrated a teaching aptitude 
• Proficient in clinical leadership.

Your Day to Day: 

• Perform surgical safety checks and advocate for patients throughout their surgical experience.

• Apply sterile practice and support a safe surgical environment.

• Coordinate and communicate closely with the interdisciplinary surgical team.

• Manage specialized surgical equipment and technology.

• Support safe specimen management and accurate clinical documentation.

• Assess patients and use critical thinking to anticipate and respond to changing needs.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing care plans.

• Educate and support patients and families throughout their care.

• Share your clinical knowledge and contribute to a strong, collaborative team environment.

• Support evidence-based practice, quality improvement, and nursing research.
