The salary range for this position is CAD $38.12/Hr. - CAD $54.80/Hr.

Summary

Medical Affairs is the branch of PHC responsible for the management and oversight of the relationship between PHC and all Medical Staff (physicians, nurse practitioners, midwives and dentists), who are primarily independent contractors.

We are seeking a Temporary Full-Time Business Analyst to join our team! Reporting to the Manager, Medical Affairs Finance & Compensation, the Business Analyst, Physician Compensation will be responsible for supporting Medical Affairs planning, analysis and decision support related to Medical Staff and physician extender contracts and funding, including alternate payments and MOCAP. Their responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating Medical Staff and physician extender compensation and accountability reporting to the Ministry of Health;
  • Leading planning, evaluation and utilization of funding allocations;
  • Supporting the provision of relevant information to other areas of PHC to ensure transparency and clear decision making.

What You Bring

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Sciences or related field
  • Three (3) to five (5) years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and link business issues, financial results and strategy to the overall goals and objectives of the department/program.
  • Excellent computer skills in order to access and manipulate data from various systems to produce financial and other analysis and reports including advanced Excel, R and Tableau skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to meaningfully interpret and present data.
  • Demonstrated project management, analytical and report writing and design skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
  • Excellent communication skills both oral and written including the ability to translate technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt and produce high quality results in a constantly changing and developing environment.
  • Demonstrated time management skills and the ability to achieve stated outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks and meet stated timelines.

Your Day to Day:

  • Provides timely, relevant, reliable and clear information with appropriate supporting data analyses and review of alternatives to inform planning and decision-making by the Manager, Medical Affairs Finance & Compensation, Manager, Medical Staff Contracts & Negotiations, Executive Director, Medical Affairs, VP, Medical Affairs, and Physician Program Directors, as well as PHC Leadership Teams.
  • Provides data analysis using key data sources (financial, fee for service revenue, population, clinical, organizational, and administrative) in response to Medical Affairs and senior executive level requests for information and analysis. This work may include revenue analysis, data linkage, descriptive information, statistical analyses, and statistical tests of significance.
  • Leads the implementation of Medical Staff and physician extender billing and service volume reporting processes for new Medical Staff and physician extender contracts to ensure reporting processes include appropriate and adequate financial controls. This will require working collaboratively with Medical Staff, program managers, Accounts Receivable, Medical Affairs, and the Ministry of Health to ensure all partner needs are met.
  • Reviews program planning documents and plans for allocating resources to new physician contracts and provide appropriate information and feedback. Information and feedback will include aiding with revenue analysis and funding options as well as feedback on planning assumptions.
  • Develops a strong working relationship with Program Directors, Physician Program Directors, Senior Executive, business support, and others who require information for planning, managing, and evaluating physician contracts and services. Project support may include planning project deliverables, identifying data sources and appropriate methods to support planning, data analyses, writing summary reports and preparing presentations.
  • Completes reconciliations, utilization, forecasting, analyses and projects as requested by the Manager, Medical Affairs Finance & Compensation.
  • Provides input and identifies opportunities for Medical Staff contract revenue analysis to the Manager, Medical Affairs Finance & Compensation/or Manager, Medical Staff Contracts and Negotiations. This will include providing recommendations and advice on important data development, process improvements to maximize physician billing revenues, and future projects/analyses.
  • Works with representatives of other Health Authorities and other data custodians to support physician compensation analysis and reporting initiatives.
  • Works with Information Management / Information Technology and other staff to support timely, reliable and consistent data reporting and analysis.
  • Manages the financial operations of assigned Medical Staff and physician extender contracts. Communicates with physicians to collect physician hours reporting data, prepares invoices and hours reporting forms.
  • Performs other duties as required.
