Summary

Are you a Plumber interested in a role that directly supports the delivery of care — ensuring critical systems are always operational when they’re needed most?

As a Plumber at the state-of-the-art St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver, you’ll play a critical role in keeping a complex, high-performing health care facility running safely and efficiently.

This includes:

  • Install, repair and maintain plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment across a large, dynamic hospital environment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to ensure systems operate reliably and meet strict healthcare and safety standards
  • Troubleshoot and repair piping systems, valves, fixtures and natural gas lines
  • Inspect, test and maintain cross connection control devices and systems
  • Work closely with other skilled trades and Facilities teams to support day-to-day operations and long-term infrastructure projects
  • Contribute to a safe, functional environment that supports patient care, staff, and the broader community

What You Bring

Education: 

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Plumber, Class B level Gas Fitter's License with an electrical endorsement recognized by the Province of B.C. 
  • Valid Certificate of Competency as a Cross Connection Control Specialist issued by the American Water Works Association, British Columbia Section
  • Two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. 

Skills and Abilities:

  • Manages own tasks and delegates efficiently to maximize productivity 
  • Accepts and champions new initiatives, guiding team members through implementation 
  • Identifies and implements improvements to work systems to ensure the highest quality service.

 Your Day to Day:

  • Review work requests and consult with Supervisor 
  • Perform operational and safety risk assessment 
  • Install and repair pipe and plumbing systems 
  • Repair and/or replace items such as pipes, valves, and fixtures 
  • Carry out plumbing preventative maintenance program 
  • Ensure conformance to applicable codes and regulations 
  • Inspect and test cross connection control devices 
  • Use equipment like water columns and differential gauges 
  • Complete related reports and records
  • Install, test, maintain, and repair natural gas lines.
