Summary

Join our team at Providence Health Care as an Electrician, where your expertise will help maintain a safe and reliable environment for patients, families, and staff. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you’ll perform skilled electrical work at the journeyman level, including installing, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining hospital electrical systems and equipment. From fire alarms and security systems to communication networks and building circuits, you’ll ensure everything operates smoothly and in compliance with applicable codes and regulations. Your role will also involve interpreting blueprints, estimating project costs, and coordinating work schedules with user departments. With responsibilities that include preventative maintenance, safety checks, and mentoring designated staff, you’ll play a vital part in supporting our mission of delivering high-quality care through dependable infrastructure.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Electrician recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
  • Two years' recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day:

  • Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain hospital electrical systems and equipment, including fire alarms, security, and communication systems.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, safety checks, and testing on motors, controls, and appliances to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Review work requests, consult with user departments, interpret blueprints and specifications, and estimate materials and labor for projects.
  • Prepare for projects by arranging schedules, assembling tools and supplies, and coordinating with departments to minimize disruption.
  • Install and modify electrical wiring, circuits, and equipment; make connections to new appliances and systems as required.
  • Provide technical guidance and assign tasks to designated staff, offering training and orientation when needed.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; complete related reports and recommend purchases to support operations.
  • Collaborate with contractors and suppliers to ensure compliance with specifications and facility standards.
  • Document work performed, maintain accurate records, and ensure all tasks meet safety and regulatory requirements.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the safe and efficient operation of hospital facilities.
