Summary

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team. Reporting to the Chief Engineer, you will be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of various plant equipment. This role includes inspecting, repairing, and maintaining systems such as heating and air conditioning (HVAC), pneumatic systems, water lines, sterilizers, ovens, warmers, and other essential facilities. You will ensure compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and safety policies to maintain a safe and efficient working environment.

What You Bring

Education, Training and Experience

  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day:

  • Operate and maintain heating, air conditioning, and pneumatic systems, including pumps, fans, and air compressors. Monitor temperature control systems and record meter/gauge readings.

  • Inspect, repair, and maintain plumbing systems including water lines, sewer lines, sinks, toilets, bathtubs, sterilizers, ovens, and related equipment.

  • Adjust and monitor HVAC systems using mechanical, pneumatic, and electronic control systems; perform calibration and repairs on steam and HVAC components.

  • Perform preventative and demand maintenance on HVAC and steam systems, including repairing or replacing pumps, fans, compressors, valves, and other components.

  • Test, maintain, and repair auxiliary power generators as needed.

  • Clean and maintain plant equipment, including beds, wheelchairs, stretchers, and floor cleaners. Replace air filters and clean fan rooms/ducts.

  • Respond to service and emergency calls for systems like fire protection, medical air, vacuum, and sterilizers. Perform repairs and escalate issues as required.

  • Monitor and adjust chemical treatment systems.

  • Maintain, repair, and extend steam piping systems, including valves, traps, and heat exchangers.

  • Ensure compliance with safety codes and regulations, maintaining safe work areas and reporting inefficiencies or hazards.

  • Maintain logs, records, and perform required tests/calculations.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.
