Your Day to Day:
- Plans, organizes, implements, modifies, and evaluates music therapy programs to improve or maintain residents’ physical, mental, emotional, and social functioning.
- Provides music therapy assessments and treatments using recognized techniques and practices; consults with the interdisciplinary team to recommend appropriate programs and coordinate therapeutic activities.
- Records, maintains, and updates resident documentation, including assessments, treatment notes, and statistical data, in accordance with departmental and facility policies.
- Participates in quality assurance activities by providing input to the Professional Practice Leader on procedures, standards, assessment forms, resident materials, and program descriptions.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of musical equipment and materials; ensures safe and appropriate use and makes recommendations regarding purchasing, maintenance, and repairs.
- Participates in interdisciplinary care conferences to provide information about resident status as required.
- Maintains current knowledge of music therapy developments through professional literature, consultation, and participation in approved educational programs.
- Participates in the orientation of staff, students, and volunteers, and provides in-services as needed.
- Supports the music therapy student fieldwork program by providing supervision and instruction as required.
- Attends and contributes to regularly scheduled music therapy council meetings.
- Participates in and supports educational and research activities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
