Summary

Reporting to the Coordinator, Environmental Services, the Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for overseeing a team of 16 staff, scheduling and coordinating work assignments, participating in performance reviews, and ensuring that staff adhere to infection prevention and control practices. We are hiring a casual Housekeeping Supervisor to support operations at St. Paul's Hospital. 

We are looking for candidates with a genuine interest in a career in Environmental Services and recent relevant experience including supervising and leading teams. If you thrive in high-volume and fast-paced settings, this may be the role for you.

Education

  • Grade 12 plus three years' recent related experience including six months' supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Your Day to Day:

  • Supervising Environmental Services staff by scheduling work, coordinating assignments, identifying training needs, and monitoring performance, reporting issues to the Coordinator.
  • Conducting routine inspections to ensure cleaning quality and compliance with departmental standards, maintaining records and reporting concerns.
  • Overseeing housekeeping equipment maintenance, ensuring proper storage and cleanliness, and arranging repairs when necessary.
  • Monitoring adherence to safety and procedural standards, instructing staff on safety protocols, and reports hazards or violations to the Coordinator.
  • Managing staffing and training logistics, including scheduling annual procedural reviews and tracking attendance.
  • Maintaining inventory and supply levels, completing requisitions and ensuring stock is controlled according to established guidelines.
  • Supporting operational planning by maintaining reports, recommending special cleaning projects, assisting with budget estimates, and performing cleaning duties as needed.
