Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $54.16/Hr. - CAD $77.86/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Director of Medical Imaging, the Manager of Medical Imaging is responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and management of the medical imaging department and designated operations portfolio. This includes providing leadership and supervision to staff, implementing quality assurance measures, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure the efficient and effective operation of the imaging services. Oversees the operation and management of assigned Medical Imaging Services.

 

This position oversees the operation and management of assigned Medical Imaging Services in MRI, Nuclear Medicine and Practice, Education, Quality and Radiation Safety.


The Manager has overall accountability for ensuring systems and processes are established for medical imaging quality management including departmental policies and procedures, continuous evaluation of services including external assessments and Diagnostic Accreditation Program (DAP), process improvement initiatives, radiation safety, quality assurance, and education. Works collaboratively with the Director, to plan, implement and monitor the budget and workforce initiatives for the portfolio. The Manager works in collaboration with other departments to streamline patient care pathways and enhance overall healthcare delivery. Key partnerships include PHC Operations Leadership, Medical Directors, Professional Practice, Indigenous Health, Finance, Legal, Human Resources, and Communications as well as Regional Medical Imaging and Informatics support teams, , suppliers, regulatory bodies including DAP and vendors.

What You Bring

Qualifications:

A level of education, training & experience equivalent to a bachelor's degree in Radiological Technology, Medical Imaging, Healthcare Administration, or a related field, plus seven (7) years' recent and related experience in the health care field. Experience with process improvement methodologies and best practice; experience in medical imaging and/or quality management. Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development. Registration with relevant professional College/Association, if applicable, is an asset.

Your Day to Day:

  • Communicates strategic direction incorporating PHC mission, vision and values and ensures integration into practice by interdisciplinary team members.
  • Manages the Medical Imaging services at the designated site(s) by providing key management direction and support to ensure the safe and effective delivery of diagnostic and patient care services. Investigates and resolves operational issues involving service level concerns or staff performance issues. Communicates priorities and directives to Site Coordinators, Modality Leaders and staff. Works collaboratively with Medical Imaging leadership team to ensure compliance with hospital and regulatory standards.
  • In collaboration with the Director and senior team leaders, develops, plans, implements, monitors and, where necessary, implements corrective actions to keep expenses within the operating and/or capital budgets for Medical Imaging at the designated site(s). Works on budget preparation, development of workforce plans, authorization, control and reporting of expenditures ensuring the efficient, effective and economical utilization of financial resources within established objectives, plans and budgets.
  • Defines an effective workforce plan in collaboration with key partners and stakeholders that ensures the availability of adequate staff within the context of operational demands and environmental and resource constraints. Selects, supervises, evaluates, disciplines staff up to and including termination. Develops and maintains a master staff rotation; liaises with centralized scheduling service; approves vacation, overtime and leaves of absence in accordance with departmental policies and procedures. Applies various collective agreements for unionized staff and terms and conditions for non-contract staff. Participates in the handling and resolution of grievances and represents the employer in third party proceedings as required.
  • Oversees and participates in the management of human resource matters such as development and implementation of appropriate orientation, staff development and retention plans. Creates an environment that fosters growth, development, knowledge sharing and recognition. Works with Site Coordinators, Modality Leaders and Educators to ensure systems are in place to ensure staff competency and opportunities for continuing education.
  • Provides leadership on site-specific business cases and operational reviews, needs assessment and environmental scans to identify opportunities and risks. Participates in strategic planning regarding technology and equipment needs. Seeks opportunities to enhance revenues and/or contain or reduce costs. Designs and implements solutions to provide effective business processes.
  • Monitors and tracks key performance and quality assurance indicators, prepares relevant reports for the Director, and ensures resources are deployed in a safe, effective and efficient manner. Recommends and implements operational changes based upon the analysis and reporting of these indicators.
  • Participates in the development of strategies for equipment ‘downtime’ and ‘contingency’ situations.
  • Effectively prepares and complies with accreditation processes as required by the DAP.
  • Ensures and contributes to the development, implementation and evaluation of quality improvement initiatives and methodologies for the department.
  • Leads and manages designated departmental or site specific projects including development and tracking of work plans, overseeing project resources and reporting on project status. Provides leadership in redesigning systems and acts as a Project Manager as required, conducts needs assessments, assists with defining project scope and resource needs, works with integrated project teams, reports on project status, and ensures projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and with a high standard of quality.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with relevant internal and external partners and user departments throughout PHC. Identifies ongoing requirements by attending planning sessions, conceptualizing and providing leadership and expert advice for future development
