The salary range for this position is CAD $31.44/Hr. - CAD $31.44/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Medical Imaging, the Supervisor, Porter/Radiology Support Aide is responsible for the supervision of Porters who transport patients to and from the Medical Imaging department and the Radiology Support Aides. Oversees the quality of work performed, coordinates workflow, participates in recruitment, provides input into employee performance, coaches and orientates team members, and maintains timekeeping records and liaises with Staffing. Updates and standardizes work routines and orientation material, compiles and reports tracking data, completes documentation, and responds to enquiries. In addition to supervising the designated employees in the daily operations of the area; performs portering and/or radiology support aide functions as required.

What You Bring

Education
Grade 12 plus three (3) years’ recent related experience including one year in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Completion of the Basic Life Support Level C certificate.

Your Day to Day

 

  • Supervises and coordinates the Porter and Radiology Support Aide activities for Medical Imaging areas by performing duties such as utilizing staff effectively within the allocated budget to meet changing workload demands, setting daily priorities and providing guidance/advice. Assists with troubleshooting of equipment, facilitates workplace solutions with other personnel, troubleshoots other work-related issues and consults with the management team and other technical team members as required to ensure services are performed in an effective and efficient manner.
  • Plans, organizes, and coordinates patient, equipment, and material movement in support of Medical Imaging throughout the Hospital; coordinates workflow of assigned area by establishing priorities, standards, and operating procedures to allocate work.
  • Oversees the quality of work performed by checking with team members to ensure procedures, work routines and transports are conducted according to established standards.
  • Participates in departmental quality improvement.
  • Supervises designated staff by performing duties such as scheduling and coordinating work assignments.
  • Participates in performance assessment of team members and brings forward follow up to management as needed.
  • Participates in recruitment of team members in collaboration with the management team and other designated personnel by identifying vacancies, commencing internal paperwork, participating on interview panels for staff selection and providing recommendations regarding evaluation of candidates to facilitate optimal hiring decisions.
  • Supports onboarding and orientation of new staff. Coaches team members and determines and implements related training and orientation requirements in conjunction with modality supervisors and the manager. Assesses orientation and general progress and provides feedback and/or written documentation to ensure adherence to departmental standards. Coordinates orientation program to ensure staff are familiar with organizational policies, procedures, Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Develops, oversees, and updates standards and procedures; ensures safety practices and procedures are adhered to. Maintains a variety of records and prepares reports as required on various activities completed by Porters and Radiology Support Aides.
  • Authorizes and processes requests such as vacation, LOA, etc.; maintains timekeeping records for staff and submits to Staffing; liaises with Staffing regarding employee inquiries and adjusts as required.
  • Reviews work requests and consults with user departments regarding needs and requirements.
  • Ensures equipment such as stretchers and wheelchairs are in good working order. Makes arrangements for repair and/or replacement as necessary.
  • Completes routine forms such as dispatch logs transport requests according to established procedures. Maintains a variety of records and prepares reports as required on various activities by setting up and updating computerized files and spreadsheets using word processing and spreadsheet software, compiling, recording, and tabulating data from various sources and summarizing information into report form for workload monitoring purposes.
