Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $45.46/Hr. - CAD $65.35/Hr.

Summary

Within the context of a patient, client and family centred model of care and, in accordance with the Mission, Vision and Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care, promotes a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors and staff.

Reporting to the Manager, Disability Management, the Team Lead is responsible for the leadership, development and administration of the Disability Management Program throughout Providence Health Care (PHC) and its agencies, divisions and services. The Team Lead mentors the Disability Management Advisors and Coordinators in relation to case management and mentors the staff to achieve best practices for prevention and early intervention initiatives to improve health outcomes for employees and maintain optimal function and activity in the workplace. The Team Lead assists the Disability Management Advisors in the development of transitional work programs for ill and injured staff through working collaboratively with appropriate stakeholders to identify opportunities for early and safe return to work plans. The Team Lead provides education to managers, supervisors, and union stewards in relation to Disability Management and the Early Intervention and Rehabilitation Program.

What You Bring

QUALIFICATIONS
Education, Training and Experience

University degree in related health sciences discipline, plus five (5) to seven (7) years of recent related experience in Disability Case and WCB Claim management within a unionized environment in an intermediate to large organization, and experience in program development, implementation, and evaluation.

Certification in Disability Management preferred.

• Thorough understanding of a complex multi-union healthcare environment to identify, develop and implement strategies and initiatives that are in line with overall Integrated HR Services strategies.

• Develops and maintains effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to promote and enhance services provided.

• Demonstrated ability to work with others in a consultative/collaborative manner in the pursuit of service and quality excellence.

• Identifies emerging initiatives, trends and industry best practices and ensures full consideration in the development and implementation of service delivery goals and objectives.

• Utilizes effective communication skills in the development of business cases and marketing and promotional materials.

• Uses creativity and innovation to analyze current processes with a view to continuous quality improvement, and to develop new programs and initiatives in line with overall organizational vision, goals and objectives.

• Possesses effective organizational, investigative, critical thinking and problem solving skills

• Demonstrated computer literacy with relevant word-processing, spreadsheet, database and Internet software/tools.

What We Offer

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Mentors the Disability Management Advisor and Coordinators by providing expertise through consultation on complex disability management cases, management of health related absences and return to work initiatives; ensures appropriate and consistent advice and best practices are being applied.

2. Provides support to Disability Management Advisor and Coordinators on complex or escalated files by facilitating outcome focused discussions on approaches and evaluating potential impacts and risks and participating in meetings with union, employees, and/or leaders.

3. Manages a small case load in addition to case management for escalations or complex Disability Management cases.

4. Liaises with insurance carriers and other service providers to ensure best practices for disability management are being achieved.

5. Provides education to managers, supervisors, and union stewards in relation to Disability Management and the Early Intervention and Rehabilitation Program.

6. Provides content expertise to the Disability Management Advisors and Associates in relation to case management and coaches and mentors the staff to achieve best practices.

7. Builds and maintains effective working partnerships internally, within Human Resources and operational groups, and externally with key stakeholders including Canada Life, Health Benefit Trust, WorkSafe BC, local and provincial unions, Insurance Corporation of BC, Health Employers Association of BC, and colleagues in other Health Authorities.

8. Coordinates and manages aspects of the designated program and/or additional Disability Management projects across Providence Health Care to ensure consistency of practice, procedure and evaluation of outcomes. Communicates, clarifies and promotes PHC workplace health and HR corporate.

9. Remains current, and assists others with keeping up-to-date, on Disability Management trends, issues and best practices including regulatory and legal compliance issues, through literature review, contact with peers at other organizations and attendance at seminars, workshops and educations programs.

10. Supervises Disability Management Advisors and Coordinators; participates in interviewing and onboarding new hires; conducts
performance management reviews

11. Manages WSBC appeals as required including completing and submitting cost relief appeals.

12. Performs other duties as required.
