Summary
Reporting to the Resident Care Manager and receiving work direction from a Registered Nurse/Registered Psychiatric Nurse, the Care Aide/Activity Assistant, Adult Day Program (ADP) works with the interdisciplinary care team within the context of a person and family centred recovery model, to carry out social/leisure activities and established nursing/personal care programs for people living with complex mental health, neurological and neurocognitive disorders.
The Adult Day Program at Youville is a specialized social program for adults living with chronic disease, physical and/or cognitive impairment. The program provide caregivers with daytime respite; we offer flexible hours based on client needs, specialized evidence-based dementia care approaches, and chronic disease management and support. The care team is comprised of interdisciplinary health professionals who are passionate about service quality and enhancing the lives of the clients they support.
Education
Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Resident Care Attendant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience, and one year's recent, related experience working with people who live with complex mental health, neurological and neurocognitive disorders (e.g., Parkinson's, Dementia, Brain Injury).
Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to organize work. Ability to operate related equipment.
Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete a Food Safe certification course during their orientation/qualifying period in order to be deemed to have successfully passed their qualifying period.
