Travel can be required for providing training and when implementing the new system at a Fraser Health (FH) site. Days off and hours may vary during the 1-3 weeks period of an implementation at a FH site.

 

What You Bring

Education & Experience

  • Graduation from an accredited Health Information Management Diploma or Bachelor Program.
  • Four (4) years’ recent, related experience as a Health Record Administrator in a multi-service facility, including a minimum one year of experience in data analysis, database management and coding, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Canadian Health Information Management Association (CHIMA) Certified. Education in computer science/programming and project management would be an asset.
  • Travel between HIM sites requires access to a vehicle and a valid BC Driver’s License.

Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize and troubleshoot computer software applications and report writer tools, such as Crystal Report, MS SQL Server Management Studio, the MS office suite, MS SharePoint, MS TEAM and remote applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to code in ICD-10-CA/CCI and abstract in the CIHI Discharge Abstract database, NACRS, PDR and other databases.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Case Mix Groups (CMGs), Comprehensive Ambulatory Classification System (CACS), Resource Intensity Weight (RIW) and Expected Length of Stay (ELOS).
  • Ability to understand computer terminology, which allows communicating and interacting effectively with project team, vendors and other system stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and teach staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop learning materials and tools.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize workload.
  • Ability to problem-solve.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to work to deadlines under pressure, with minimal supervision and frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to deal effectively with others, demonstrate leadership and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate related computer programs and equipment.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day:

  1. Application Support: Manage and support coding-related applications (e.g., WinRecs, 3M Codefinder, CAC, Meditech, CNN, Folio, Cerner, Perinatal Database Registry).
  2. Quality Assurance & Troubleshooting: Perform quality assurance initiatives, first-line troubleshooting, and act as the primary contact for vendors.
  3. User Access Management: Set up user access for Coding Applications, SharePoint, and databases; perform access auditing and resolve access issues.
  4. Remote Work Solutions: Support and maintain remote work solutions including virtual desktops, remote access, and monitor server performance.
  5. Issue Documentation & Escalation: Document system issues and escalate as needed, ensuring clear communication about system functionality.
  6. Vendor Liaison: Act as a liaison between Coding Services, vendors, Informatics, and IS teams on business requirements and system integration.
  7. Batch Interfaces & Data Validation: Develop batch interfaces, work with HIM Optimization team on data extraction, and ensure data accuracy.
  8. Collaboration with Health Authorities: Exchange expertise with other Health Authorities and system coordinators for current/future implementations.
  9. Policy & Procedure Development: Create and maintain policies, procedures, and manuals for assigned systems.
  10. CIHI & MOH Liaison: Serve as the primary contact with CIHI and MOH for system updates and changes for Discharge Abstract Database (DAD) and NACRS.
  11. Project Execution: Lead infrastructure design, business requirement gathering, application configuration, and data mapping for new programs and updates.
  12. Report Development: Write custom reports, edit routine reports, and create scripts for Robotic Process Automation (RPA) coding edits.
  13. Website & SharePoint Management: Maintain the HIM Coding Intranet and/or SharePoint sites, including user access setup and auditing.
  14. Training & Development: Provide training to coding staff and external stakeholders, including developing training materials and sessions.
  15. Budget Input: Contribute input for capital and operating budgets within the assigned area.
  16. Committee Participation: Lead and participate in relevant committees.
  17. Additional Duties: Perform other related tasks as needed.
