The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

We are hiring for full-time, part-time, temporary RN positions in the Surgery 10A/B & C Unit at St. Paul’s Hospital as part of our ongoing opportunities.

 

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Registered Nurse plays a key role in delivering high-quality patient care. You will:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet patients’ physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs.
  • Develop and continuously update individualized care plans.
  • Provide education and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers, incorporating both individual and group teaching.
  • Support and collaborate with nurses and other healthcare professionals by sharing knowledge and demonstrating procedures.
  • Work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework, following BCCNM Standards and aligning with the mission, vision, and values of Providence Health Care.

What You Bring

Education

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, or in Residential Care and Mental Health, registration with the BC College of Nurses & Midwives as a practicing RN or a practicing RPN registrant.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to work as a member in an interdisciplinary team.

Your Day to Day:

  • Assess and Plan Care – Review patient charts, conduct observations and interviews, and collaborate with the healthcare team to develop individualized care plans.
  • Provide Direct Nursing Care – Deliver safe and effective patient care following PHC standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Monitor and Evaluate Patient Progress – Track patient outcomes, reassess care plans as needed, and adjust interventions accordingly.
  • Manage Emergencies – Respond to crisis situations and provide life-saving interventions as required.
  • Document Patient Information – Maintain accurate records of assessments, care plans, progress, and discharge plans in both manual and electronic systems.
  • Educate Patients and Families – Identify learning needs, provide education and resources, and lead patient/family teaching sessions.
  • Support and Supervise Staff – Guide and collaborate with Licensed Practical Nurses, Care Attendants, and other team members to ensure quality patient care.
  • Participate in Interdisciplinary Collaboration – Work closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and contribute to a team-based approach.
  • Facilitate Safe Discharges – Coordinate with families and community resources to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.
  • Engage in Professional Development – Participate in orientation, training, quality improvement initiatives, and research activities to advance nursing practice.
