Job Overview:
The Clinical Support Clerk plays a vital role in providing administrative and clerical support within a clinical environment. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager or designated supervisor, and working closely with Clinical Nurse Leaders, Charge Nurses, and Physicians, the Clinical Support Clerk ensures the smooth and efficient operation of various patient care activities. This position involves a combination of scheduling, admitting, secretarial, and clerical tasks that contribute to the effective delivery of patient care.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Scheduling and Appointments: Coordinates patient appointments, bookings, and rescheduling. Processes admissions, transfers, and discharges by obtaining and accurately entering patient/client information into computerized systems.
Communication & Patient Interaction: Acts as a liaison between patients/clients, visitors, and healthcare personnel, providing information, directing inquiries, and transferring individuals to appropriate locations or staff.
Clerical Support: Performs a range of clerical tasks including typing, filing, and storing documents. Ensures patient/client records are checked and maintained in the computerized registration and scheduling systems.
Test Results Management: Sends and receives test results to and from relevant healthcare personnel, ensuring timely and accurate information exchange within the clinical team.
Reception & Data Entry: Performs reception duties, greeting visitors, answering inquiries, and entering or updating data in patient/client systems. Orders supplies as needed to maintain clinic operations.
This role requires attention to detail, effective communication skills, and the ability to work within a fast-paced, healthcare-focused environment.
To qualify for this position, you must have good knowledge of medical terminology, and be able to type 40 words per minute. Knowledge and speed will be tested. You must also have recent, relevant clerical experience. Finally, you must be available to work 8-hour days shifts from 8:00am to 4:00pm, 2-3 days per week.

Your Day to Day
Greets and receives individuals entering the clinical area, identifies the person they are coming to see, answers questions, provides routine information, and escorts individuals to rooms, ensuring all have a positive experience.
Transmits information to and from hospital staff, physicians, patients/clients, family members, visitors, and other individuals by notifying, directing, and transferring them to the appropriate personnel or hospital locations.
Schedules and books patient appointments by entering information into the computerized registration and/or scheduling system, booking time slots, making follow-up appointments, and adjusting or canceling appointments as necessary.
Verifies patient/client records in the computerized registration system before visits/admissions, ensuring requested procedures are booked and results are available.
Performs admission, transfer, and discharge duties by interviewing patients, obtaining personal details, completing standard forms, and entering data into the computerized Admission, Discharge & Transfer system.
Follows up on patient/client services, such as diet tray orders, collection and tracking of patient belongings, and distributing/collecting patient/client surveys
