Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42/Hr. - CAD $55.91/Hr.

Summary

The Staff Nurse is responsible for delivering nursing care within a client and family-centered model, in accordance with the Mission, Vision, Values, and strategic directions of Providence Health Care. Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Staff Nurse will assess, identify, plan, implement, and evaluate the nursing care needed to meet the physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs of patients/residents.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients/residents, ensuring their physical, social, spiritual, and psychological needs are met.

  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and revise individualized care plans in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

  • Incorporate individual and/or group teaching into the care plan and nursing interventions, and make referrals to other identified resources as needed.

  • Support other nurses and healthcare professionals by sharing information and demonstrating procedures.

  • Work within an interdisciplinary clinical framework in accordance with the BCCNM Standards of Practice and the protocols of Providence Health Care.

  • Promote a safe, respectful, and civil working environment for patients, residents, families, visitors, and staff.

What You Bring

Education:
  • Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives, or
  • In Residential Care and Mental Health, current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives.
  • Two years' recent, related experience working with youth and young adults in a primary care and mental health/substance use setting; completion of the Point of Care HIV Testing course; and successful completion of the BCCDC Immunization certificate. CRNBC Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI) Management certification or evidence of enrollment.

Your Day to Day 

  • Review patient/resident status through methods such as chart reviews, patient observation, interviews with patients and families, completion of questionnaires, and consultation with peers and healthcare team members.
  • Assess patient/resident problems and needs, plan, implement, evaluate, and prioritize nursing care, and develop the plan of care using clinical judgment and evidence-based practice.
  • Provide nursing care according to policies, procedures, technology, and PHC standards.
  • Monitor patient/resident progress, evaluate outcomes, reassess goals when unmet, and modify care plans as needed.
  • Record observations and report changes in patient/resident condition to designated staff.
  • Provide direct nursing interventions in crisis and life-threatening situations.
  • Document assessments, care plans, patient/resident status, progress, and discharge plans in manual or computerized environments.
  • Accompany patients in medical transport vehicles as required.
  • Identify and address patient/resident and family learning needs, provide educational materials, incorporate teaching into care plans, and make referrals to other resources. Lead group patient/family sessions and coach health-promoting behaviors.
  • Provide direction to staff such as Care Attendants and Licensed Practical Nurses, fostering teamwork and ensuring proper delegation of clinical tasks.
  • Participate in nursing orientation, share clinical knowledge with nursing staff, students, and interdisciplinary team members, and attend educational programs.
  • Participate in planning, implementation, and evaluation of care policies, procedures, education materials, and best practices through quality improvement activities and committees.
  • Support nursing research by identifying clinical research opportunities, adapting research to practice, and participating in research activities.
  • Facilitate discharge planning, liaise with families and community resources.
  • Advocate for patient/resident rights, ensuring dignity, respect, privacy, confidentiality, autonomy, and access to information.
