About Food Services:
Food Services plays a vital role in enhancing patient care and health outcomes by providing nutritious, high-quality meals tailored to diverse dietary needs. Our team includes dedicated professionals who work collaboratively to ensure meals meet the highest standards of care, serving patients, residents, and staff across Providence Health Care facilities.

Position Overview:
We are seeking a Support Services Supervisor to join our Food Services team and contribute to providing exceptional nutrition and environmental support. Reporting to the Manager, Food Services or designate, this role ensures diet orders align with clinical nutritional care standards, facilitates communication between Clinical Nutrition and Food Services, and oversees environmental services in assigned areas.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Acting as the liaison between Clinical Nutrition and Food Services to ensure diet orders meet nutritional care standards for inpatients and outpatients using nutrition software.
  • Conducting nutritional screenings to assess malnutrition risk and gathering patient information on dietary needs, preferences, and tolerances.
  • Charting activities in patient medical records, including meal intake, diet-related details, and updates to computerized systems.
  • Supervising day-to-day operations in environmental services, including staff scheduling, administrative tasks, and maintaining quality assurance standards.
  • Promoting and maintaining excellent customer relations and effective communication with all levels of staff.

What You Bring

Education and Experience:
Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision plus one year’s recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Food Safe Certificate 1.

 

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to supervise.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to day:

  • Schedule and supervise staff, coordinate work assignments, and evaluate performance.
  • Conduct meal rounds to ensure food service quality and gather diet-related feedback from patients and families.
  • Perform nutritional analysis of menus and assist with recipe development.
  • Inspect housekeeping and cleaning tasks to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and sanitation practices, conducting regular inspections.
  • Manage inventory, order supplies, and monitor cost control.
  • Maintain employee records, process timekeeping, and assist with special projects.
