Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $42.56/Hr. - CAD $52.95/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the designated Physiotherapy Site Leader and receiving overall direction from the Professional Practice Leader and guidance and support from the Research, Education and Practice Coordinator:

  • Support the interdisciplinary program/team under the guidance of the Patient/Resident Care Manager to meet departmental, program, patient, and resident goals.
  • Plan, organize, and implement physiotherapy programs to prevent or reduce movement dysfunction and improve patient/resident function.
  • Manage all clinical aspects of your assigned caseload in alignment with Providence Health Care’s Mission, Vision, and Values.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to assess patient responses, set treatment goals, and develop long-term care plans

This position offers a unique opportunity to join our Hospital at Home team, delivering care directly to patients in their homes, while also working in the St. Paul’s Hospital Medicine unit.

What You Bring

Education

  • Baccalaureate degree in Physiotherapy, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.
  • Valid BC Driver's License

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with and deal effectively with, patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrated ability to gather relevant data and make a multi-dimensional assessment.
  • Knowledge of other health care disciplines and their role in patient/resident care.
  • Demonstrated ability to draw out information that will contribute to understanding the patient/resident's situation in order to explore issues beyond the initial concerns.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal with and/or guide others in conflict resolution issues.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritize issues and workload.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.
  • Ability to participate in research.
  • Ability to provide supervision and teaching to students.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and provide in-services and presentations.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Perform physiotherapy assessments and treatments for patients/residents, including education and follow-up.
  • Educate and counsel individuals, families, and teams through demonstrations, in-services, and resource materials.
  • Contribute to the care team by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to patient/resident care.
  • Provide clinical education and supervision to students as needed.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities, developing and evaluating procedures, standards, and patient education materials.
  • Maintain patient/resident records by documenting assessments, charting progress, and preparing reports.
  • Act as a physiotherapy resource for staff, offering guidance on body mechanics, ergonomics, and back care.
  • Support clinical research by formulating questions, helping with proposals, and participating in data collection and interpretation.
  • Stay current with physiotherapy developments by reviewing literature, consulting professionals, and participating in educational programs.
  • Provide work direction to support staff regarding treatment, preparation, and related patient/resident activities.
