Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $38.12/Hr. - CAD $54.80/Hr.

Providence Health Care’s new St. Paul’s Hospital Project – IT Program is hiring! We are looking for a Project Leader for our IT Infrastructure portfolio.

IT Program Vision: To be a national healthcare reference centre for best practice information technology solutions that enable patients and families, clinical professionals, academics, and research partners to improve the patient care experience.

 

The IT Program works under a hybrid model, with some requirements to maintain a presence at the office and at the construction site and some flexibility to work remotely.

 

In this position, you will report to Bryan Da Silva, Program Manager, IT Infrastructure, and be joining an exceptional, hardworking team. The IT Program Executive Director, Jordan Pope, leads the team through a strong vision and a wealth of redevelopment expertise.

What You Bring

A level of education, training and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree /trades certification in a relevant discipline supplemented with three (3) to five (5) years’ recent related experience in construction, facilities/capital project planning, design and management working with complex, multi-disciplinary facility projects and progressive experience in a management/leadership role in healthcare planning.

  • Broad knowledge of the planning and construction processes associated with facilities development projects.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health care projects and relevant government procedures, standards and requirements.
  • Knowledge of change management theories and applications.
  • Advanced project management skills including effectiveness in planning and coordinating major projects from conceptual design through construction completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to navigate political environments with sensitivity and awareness.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead groups through engagement processes: facilitate, persuade and negotiate to reach consensus, resolve conflict and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities or unforeseen opportunities.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance and direction to stakeholders including staff and contractors.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under time pressure to meet deadlines, balance work priorities and resolve problems in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work effectively as part of a team.
  • Proficient use of word processing, spreadsheet, database, and project management software.
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job.

What You Will Do

Project Leader assists with the coordination and oversight of all onsite construction activities, leads and co-ordinates all aspects of projects within their assigned portfolio. They are responsible for project management, and oversight of certain project components from project planning and design through to construction and commissioning. The person supports the analysis, documentation, prioritization, and alignment of requests and requirements for the New St. Paul’s Hospital (NSP) Phase 1A project and plays key role as a conduit of information between user groups, project team, project governance, and external consultants. The Project Leader participates as an equal member of the NSP team, demonstrating critical thinking, cooperation, and takes initiative.  Knowledge of construction technology and construction related experience will be considered an asset.

This portfolio consists of IT Infrastructure systems and equipment including:

  • Structured Cabling: The standardized cabling systems that provide a reliable and scalable foundation for network connectivity and telecommunications.
  • Data Network and Common Works: The overall architecture and design of the organization's data transmission systems, including both wired and wireless networks.
  • Network Infrastructure: Routers, switches, firewalls, and other networking hardware that form the backbone of the organization's data communication system.

 

Role Responsibilities

  1. Assists the Senior Manager, IT Infrastructure, with the coordination and oversight of all onsite construction activities.
  2. Manages the implementation of approved smaller or specialized projects or scopes of work from design to completion. Provides support by conveying policies and priorities, directing work and ensuring issues are resolved or escalated to appropriate level to meet project deliverables and timelines.
  3. Carries out project plans according to project methodologies to ensure successful and coordinated completion of project components. Monitors project progress and prepares regular progress reports for projects updates.
  4. Maintains ongoing support for initiatives from project managers and user groups by keeping stakeholders aware of project status through effective communication channels.
  5. Collaborates with the respective portfolio team members regarding project implementation through methods such as compiling data, assessing where improvements can be made, and making recommendations in order to focus on the areas that need further support.
  6. Carries out components of project plans according to established Providence Health Care project methodologies and systems to ensure successful and coordinated completion of project components by facilitating consensus with stakeholders. Prepares reports, presentations, and notices to inform stakeholders and/or for internal documentation purposes on changes in departmental policies, procedures, and standards, status of projects, or other information needs.
  7. Maintains processes, policies, procedures and project control documentation. Monitors and evaluates process efficiency.
  8. Supports the development of meeting materials, escalation of decisions, maintenance of decision/action logs and preparation of meeting minutes.
  9. Conduct on-site reviews to initiate, monitor and close issues and deficiencies.
  10. Coordinate with project management leads to facilitate reviews of critical equipment and installations on-site.
  11. Lead and manage reviews of communication room turnovers with contractor partners and external consultants, ensuring standards and requirements are followed.
  12. Lead activities such as developing Data and IP reservation matrices.
  13. Collect, review, and validate commissioning documentation.
  14. Participate in final acceptance reviews to ensure project completion meets all requirements.
  15. Performs other duties as required.
