The salary range for this position is CAD $27.56/Hr. - CAD $27.56/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Security Operations or designate, the Dispatcher, Security Operations operates a VOIP telephone switchboard for Providence Health Care and is responsible for monitoring security systems, including CCTV, and dispatching security personnel. Using sound judgement and critical thinking, the Dispatcher will dispatch Relational Security Officers to respond to emergencies and non-emergencies while following hospital policies and procedures.

Education

  • Grade 12 and one (1) year's recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to keyboard at 45 wpm.

  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Operates a VOIP telephone switchboard and a computer terminal to answer emergency and non-emergency calls. Determines nature, location, and urgency of call and dispatches relational security officer as necessary in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitors various duress systems, and intrusion alarm systems, including CCTV security cameras, to identify risk, safety, and security hazards and responds according to established policies and procedures.
  • Notifies appropriate personnel of reported security incidents, alarms and required maintenance needs.
  • Ensures safety of relational security officers through timely status checks. Takes appropriate action when help is required, or an appropriate reply is not received.
  • Prepares daily activity reports and periodic summary reports as required.
  • Provides information, instructions and assistance to the public within scope of authority.
  • Reports communications equipment malfunctions as required. Requests repairs on consoles, paging and related equipment according to established guidelines by methods such as contacting the Service Desk.
