Summary
Providence Breast Centre (PBC) at Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ) is on the front line of efforts to improve statistics and outcomes for women with breast cancer. Mount Saint Joseph Hospital, which leads the province with around 1,200 breast-cancer surgeries annually, is the first in B.C. to adopt advanced procedures that will be less stressful and disruptive to a patient’s life.
As a Staff Nurse, you'll be at the forefront of patient care, working collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team to ensure patients receive comprehensive support. This position is primarily desk-heavy with a focus on multi-tasking and computer work, requiring someone who is tech-savvy and capable of navigating and learning various programs. The majority of time will be spent on computer work, including email communication, documentation, and triaging patient information. You will be responsible for reviewing patient records, making informed decisions based on established clinical pathways (without direct consultation with the surgeon), and ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
We are seeking candidates with experience in cancer care, particularly those who are familiar with the unique needs of breast cancer patients. A strong understanding of the challenges and complexities of cancer care is essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:
This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in a multifaceted position, combining direct patient care with administrative responsibilities. With 6,500 referrals processed annually, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on a large volume of patients while maintaining high standards of care.
We strongly encourage candidates to participate in shadow shifts, which offer a chance to experience the role firsthand and gain insight into the team dynamics and responsibilities.
