Summary

Providence Health Care is hiring casual Housekeeping Aides to support the Environmental Services Department at St. Vincent Langara, Brock Fahrni, and Youville. 

Under the direction of the Supervisor, Housekeeping – the Housekeeping Aide performs a variety of light and heavy cleaning duties to maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The Housekeeping Aide plays a front-line role in supporting infection prevention and control, maintaining patient comfort and dignity, and ensuring operational efficiency through timely turnover of patient and treatment rooms.

Education:

  • Grade 10 or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day:

  • Cleans and disinfects various healthcare areas including patient rooms, operating rooms, and emergency rooms, covering all surfaces like floors, walls, and ceilings.
  • Sanitizes high-touch surfaces daily, such as medical equipment, toilets, sinks, furniture, and door handles.
  • Restocks hygiene supplies in dispensers, including paper towels, toilet paper, soap, lotion, and hand sanitizer.
  • Performs discharge cleaning of rooms, including bed stripping, tidying, and transporting soiled linens.
  • Handles equipment and furniture transport using appropriate tools and maintains cleaning equipment by replacing parts and performing upkeep.
  • Manages waste disposal, reports equipment issues and safety hazards, and ensures proper documentation to supervisors.
