Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20/Hr. - CAD $63.47/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Clinical Nurse Leader/Nurse Educator 

  • Coordinate daily operations of the nursing unit or service and supervise staff.
  • Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff and the interdisciplinary team.
  • Provide direct clinical support and education to nursing staff.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, patients, and families.
  • Assist with research and quality improvement initiatives within the program.
  • Perform direct nursing care as needed.

What You Bring

Education

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, qualifications required of staff nurse in clinical area
  • Three years of recent related experience in clinical specialty, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to coach and supervise.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures appropriate for the area of service.
  • Ability to match skills of staff with clinical needs.
  • Ability to identify learning needs and develop educational programs.
  • Ability to provide and/or develop resource materials including educational materials.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of adult education principles.
  • Ability to teach and lead groups.
  • Ability to deal with and promote change.
  • Ability to role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Ability to work as a member of a interdisciplinary team.
  • Ability to apply decision making and analytical skills.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Coordinate day-to-day activities of the unit, supervise staff, and resolve staffing issues.
  • Collaborate with Patient Care Manager and Physician Leader(s) to develop and monitor the unit.
  • Act as a clinical resource, providing guidance and troubleshooting clinical practice concerns.
  • Provide formal education to nursing staff and assist in developing educational programs.
  • Review, update, and recommend changes to policies, procedures, and reference materials.
  • Develop and lead patient education programs, including group sessions for patients and families.
  • Perform direct nursing care, including physical assessments and administering medications.
  • Participate in multi-disciplinary rounds, contributing to patient care discussions.
  • Promote research and quality improvement initiatives by incorporating research findings into practice.
  • Provide input on staff performance and contribute to the Performance Planning and Coaching process.
