Providence Research is now accepting applications for a casual Research Nurse to join their Heart Failure Research and Heart Function Clinic team. 

Reporting to the Principal Investigator of the research or manager, the Research Nurse is responsible for performing direct nursing care in research settings including physical assessment and administering medications (including IV infusions) and treatments, as applicable. Obtains participant data and completes case report forms, charts, and other study documentation. Supports department/program personnel to ensure study requirements are met. May collect biological samples.

Education, Training, and Experience

• Registered Nurse with current practicing registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Previous research experience is an asset.
• High proficiency with venipuncture/phlebotomy and IV infusions is required.
• Completion of training in Anaphylaxis.
• Commitment to complete research specific training.

Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated interest in research.
• Demonstrated knowledge and ability to perform Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions for anaphylaxis and hypersensitivity reactions.

• Competitive salary: $41.42 - $55.91 CAD per hour, depending on experience

Your Day to Day:

• Review research protocol and study design with the Study Investigator(s) and Study Coordinator(s) and perform necessary training. Attends research meetings and education sessions.
• Performs direct nursing care in research settings including physical assessment and administering medications (including IV infusions) and treatments, as applicable. Monitors for infusion related reactions and study medication side-effects.
• Administers a study questionnaire to subjects.
• Collects blood samples as required by study protocol. Labels packages items to send out to laboratory in accordance with applicable study safety procedures, and protocols.
• Enters clinical data into research forms. Maintains required records and other related documentation including updating and completing case report forms. Ensures study documents and procedures are up to regulatory standards.
• Monitors, records, and reports adverse events which occur while a subject is in the clinical study and reports to Principal/Study Investigator or other designated personnel in accordance with regulatory requirements/protocols.
• Adheres to Department/Program Research Standard Operating Procedures.
• Practice research with knowledge of and adherence to GCP, Health Canada Division 5, and Tricouncil Policy Statement requirements and regulations.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
