The salary range for this position is CAD $38.31/Hr. - CAD $38.31/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Building Supervisor, performs skilled carpentry work at the journeyman level in construction, repair and maintenance of structural elements, fittings and furniture.

What You Bring

Education

Certificate of Apprenticeship or Trades Qualification Certificate as a journeyman Carpenter recognized by the Province of British Columbia. Two years’ recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
Ability to deal with others effectively.
Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
Ability to organize work.
Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day: 

 

Project Review
- Review work requests and consult with departments on specifications.

 

Blueprint Analysis
- Interpret blueprints to determine materials and equipment needed.

 

Cost Estimation
- Calculate material and labor costs; make recommendations.

 

Work Scheduling
- Arrange schedules with user departments.

 

Inventory Management
- Prepare supplies and maintain inventory; recommend purchases.

 

Construction and Repairs
- Construct and maintain woodwork, fittings, and doors; perform minor repairs.

 

Installation Tasks
- Install acoustic and gypsum ceiling systems and steel stud walls.

 

Staff Coordination
- Assign tasks to staff and provide necessary training.

 

Documentation
- Complete reports and update records.
