We are looking for a dedicated Occupational Therapist to join our Foundry Virtual Services team, working within a patient, client, and family-centered model of care.
In this dynamic hybrid role, you will:
Education
Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and three (3) years’ recent related experience working with youth and young adults facing mental health and substance use issues in a community setting or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Current full registration as an Occupational Therapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).

Duties and responsibilities:
Assesses clients’ occupational performance issues, goals, interests, needs, safety and environmental supports and resources by utilizing recognized/applicable formal and informal occupational therapy, and psychiatric rehabilitation; reviewing records, gathering information relevant to the situation, interviewing the client, and determining suitability of services.
Plans outcome oriented occupational therapy services by collaborating with the client, caregivers/family and other health care providers; identifying client and therapist expectations for service and defining an approach and focus for service; establishing and prioritizing expected outcomes; discussing service implementation options; and determining resources and duration of service to meet identified client goals.
Develops and implements occupational therapy services utilizing diverse intervention approaches by carrying out the plan, engaging the client in activities associated with occupational roles and the client’s goals, assessing and modifying the implementation, and identifying completion criteria to promote, develop, maintain and/or restore occupational potential. Acts as a group leader/co-leader in the provision of groups to meet the rehabilitation and psycho-educational needs of clients in the areas of personal life, leisure, education and work; and by supporting the Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor and other clinicians with clients.
Provides education and counselling to clients/families regarding the functional and rehabilitation issues of clients in the areas of personal life, leisure, education, work and housing; and provides information and guidance to caregivers, services providers, employers, school staff and other community agencies.

Supports a case load of clients receiving vocational or educational supports through Foundry Work & Education Program.
Provides consultation in assessment (functioning, cognition, ADLs) and education/training to Foundry centres across the province.
Collaborates with other members of the inter-professional team to contribute to evidence-based programs, services and resources required by youth with complex barriers to employment, education, and training programs. Acts as a clinical resource in meetings including network wide, Community of Practice meetings: provides expertise, input, clinical services, and recommendations to teams across the Foundry network with the goal of enhancing patient care, service delivery, and clinical outcomes in the Foundry Works program.
Leads and supports program development for Foundry Virtual employment services including development of employment groups, materials and guides for clients as well as resources to support clinicians with assessment, motivational interviewing, etc.
Supports a small case load of clients receiving vocational or educational supports through Foundry Works
Provides clinical supervision to and evaluation of students as required. Provides clinical direction to peer support worker as appropriate.
Evaluates occupational therapy services, including quality and outcomes, in collaboration with the client and family in keeping with the client's goals by determining the purpose, method and criteria of the evaluation, implementing the evaluation, and analyzing and interpreting results to utilize results for service delivery and future planning of occupational therapy services.
Collaborates with interdisciplinary staff, health care professionals, school staff, clients/families/caregivers and other community resources in the identification and resolution of client/family/caregiver care issues, revision or termination of services, cultural and language barriers, ethical dilemmas, and coordination and integration of care, and makes referrals to other services providers, as appropriate.
Maintains a variety of records including client files by gathering information, entering data into computerized databases and/or documenting information into approved formats according to the College of Occupational Therapists of BC practice standards. Notes client's progress, changes to treatment plan, and records test/treatment results to provide evidence and rationale that support assessment findings and intervention plan. Compiles statistics on workload activities and summarizing information into written reports as requested.
Participates in team/program activities required to enhance and optimize the delivery of care and to facilitate evidence-based practice. Promotes quality management principles for team/program operations, identifies processes/procedures that require improvement, and drafts/revises guidelines, policies and procedures for review.
Participates on committees as directed to promote optimal support for clients, to facilitate the resolution of issues, to represent the rehabilitation goals on regional committees, and to advocate for the goals and objectives of the team/program.
Participates in approved occupational therapy and interdisciplinary research and special projects in collaboration with designated personnel/team and other health care professionals, through methods such as collecting data, summarizing information, and/or providing verbal updates for review and further analysis by principal researcher, research team and/or project coordinator.
Maintains and updates own clinical knowledge within area of practice, and develops a plan in collaboration with designated personnel/team for professional development. Reviews progress to ensure that goals are achieved within established time frames.
Provides input into the clinical and operational budget needs of the program.
