Apply today! Providence Health Care is hiring Food Service Supervisors for the Food Services department at all of our hospitals and care homes!

Reporting to the Manager, Food Services or designate, the Food Service Supervisor I (FSS1)/Diet Technician

  • Ensure diet orders comply with Clinical Nutrition provisions for inpatients and outpatients.
  • Use nutrition software to manage diet orders.
  • Act as liaison between Clinical Nutrition and Food Services.
  • Conduct nutritional screening for malnutrition risk.
  • Visit patients to gather diet-related information and needs.
  • Identify patient/resident food preferences, tolerances, and acceptance.
  • Chart activities such as meal intake and diet-related information in medical records.
  • Input and update diet-related information in a computerized system.
  • Oversee daily food service in assigned areas.
  • Supervise designated staff.
  • Maintain and update manual and computerized records, including staffing schedules.
  • Perform related administrative duties.
  • Maintain food standards through quality assurance activities.
  • Promote and maintain excellent customer relations.
  • Ensure effective communication with all levels of staff.

What You Bring

  • Graduation from a recognized two-year program in Food Service Supervision.
  • One year's recent, related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Food Safe Certificate 1.

Your Day to Day:

  • Supervise staff by preparing schedules, coordinating work assignments, and evaluating performance.
  • Visit patients/families during meal rounds to gather diet-related information, ensure food service quality, and chart intake.
  • Conduct nutritional screenings for malnutrition risk and provide information to the Registered Dietitian.
  • Review and process patient information using the nutrition computer system.
  • Set up nourishments, mark menus, and manage the inventory of specialty formula.
  • Conduct computerized nutritional analysis of menus, recipes, and food records.
  • Maintain manuals, participate in Quality Assurance audits, and provide input on menu revisions.
