Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $36.48/Hr. - CAD $36.48/Hr.

Are you a skilled and experienced Power Engineer looking for an opportunity to lead a dynamic team in a healthcare setting? We are seeking a motivated and dedicated Power Engineer Supervisor to join our team and play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing the mechanical systems that ensure the smooth operation of our hospital.

 

What You Bring

Education 

  • Certificate of competency as a 4th Class Power Engineer recognized by the Province of British Columbia.
  • Five years' recent, related experience including two years in a supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to deal with others effectively.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
  • Ability to supervise.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings and specifications.
  • Ability to organize work.
  • Ability to operate related equipment.

Your Day to Day:

  • Staff Supervision & Coordination: Scheduling work, evaluating employee performance, and determining training needs for designated staff.
  • Project Planning & Consultation: Reviewing work requests, consulting with user departments to define project specifications, and estimating material and labor costs for projects.
  • System Maintenance & Alterations: Performing preventative maintenance, repairs, and modifications to mechanical systems such as heating, plumbing, ventilation, air conditioning, medical gases, and compressed air throughout the hospital.
  • Work Scheduling & Monitoring: Preparing work estimates, coordinating with user departments, and managing staff, tools, and supplies to ensure timely project completion.
  • Safety & Compliance: Ensuring compliance with relevant safety codes and regulations, providing safety guidance to staff, and conducting system checks to maintain safety standards.
  • Inventory & Equipment Management: Recommending the purchase of supplies, managing inventory, and coordinating the delivery and maintenance of tools and equipment.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Completing reports on system inefficiencies, equipment breakdowns, and safety hazards, and forwarding them to the Chief Engineer.
  • System Operation & Monitoring: Operating and adjusting heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, monitoring performance, and making necessary repairs.
  • Auxiliary Power & Steam System Maintenance: Testing and maintaining auxiliary power generators and steam piping systems, repairing components as needed.
  • Additional Duties: Performing other related duties as assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the hospital's mechanical systems.
