Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $38.07/Hr. - CAD $47.52/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Radiological Technologist 3, Computerized Tomography (CT)/General Procedures (GP) performs special procedure examinations in CT and radiographic procedures in accordance with departmental policy and procedures, observing safe radiation protection practices. 

Your duties will include:

  • Receiving and completing requisitions
  • Entering relevant data into the radiology information system
  • Preparing examination trays and patients for specific procedures
  • Operating computerized imaging equipment including processing and archiving of acquired data, monitoring patient during procedures, and monitoring equipment performance.
  • May be responsible for the evening, night and weekend shift and may supervise at least one (1) other Radiological Technologist or a total staff of more than two (2) up to and including four (4) FTE.

What You Bring

Education & Experience:

  • Certification with the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT).
  • Completion of an advanced specialty program in Computed Tomography
  • One (1) year recent, related experience including supervisory experience and experience in radiology procedures
  • Completion of an Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners
  • Knowledgeable in evidence based practice related to designated modality
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current General Radiography and CT theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care
  • Familiarity with organization policies, procedures, and standards of care, including safe work practices with modality equipment.
  • Proficient in PACS/Radiology Information Systems, encompassing digital imaging, image archiving, and retrieval.
  • Proficient in CPR techniques.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including the effective use of a computerized client care information system.
  • Demonstrated skill in CT techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.

Your Day to Day:

  • Performs special procedure examinations in CT according to established procedures, collaborating with radiologists, physicians, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Performs requested examinations while observing departmental standards, routines, and radiation protection practices using radiographic and computerized imaging equipment.
  • Ensures collection of relevant clinical data for requested procedures by documenting individualized patient care, recording history, and clinical information. Maintains and updates records in the database accordingly.
  • Prepares contrast agents required for examinations by filling syringes and mixing barium solutions as needed. Sets up trays for procedures, disposes of items per hospital policy, and cleans instruments for return to the Medical Device Reprocessing Department.
  • Monitors patient care and safety, ensuring adherence to departmental standards and policies during procedures.
  • Provides input into quality improvement and risk management procedures and processes.
  • Facilitates workflow in designated work areas by verifying requisition information meets departmental standards, regulating inpatient examination times, and arranging departmental or facility porters.
  • May oversee daily operations and activities of Medical Imaging personnel, including supervising departmental staff, preparing work schedules, establishing priorities, completing payroll records, organizing in-service education programs, preparing patient booking schedules, conducting employee appraisals, and reviewing staff performance.
  • Participates in approved research and special projects in collaboration with supervisors and other healthcare professionals.
  • Performs quality control duties such as scheduling and conducting equipment tests according to manufacturers' guidelines, recording results, and identifying malfunctioning equipment for repair.
  • Participates in the departmental Continuous Quality Improvement program by using established monitoring and auditing methodologies to perform quality assurance checks such as patient/physician satisfaction surveys or booking protocol audits.
