Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $40.83/Hr. - CAD $50.94/Hr.

Summary

This position may be eligible for a one-time recruitment incentive of up to $15,000. Eligibility and the exact amount will be determined based on the FTE and is subject to funding availability. To learn more about this incentive and whether you may qualify, please contact your Recruitment Advisor.

We are currently hiring MRI Technologists to support our Diagnostic Imaging department. This is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in a fast-paced, team-oriented healthcare environment!

Reporting to the Supervisor, the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist, performs:

  • MRI examinations in accordance with departmental policy and procedures.
  • Receives and completes requisitions for procedures.
  • Enters relevant data into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Prepares examination trays and patients for specific procedures.
  • Operates computerized imaging equipment, including processing and archiving data.
  • Monitors patients during procedures and equipment performance.

What You Bring

Education:

  • Certified with CAMRT (Magnetic Resonance Imaging).
  • Completion of Intravenous Therapy training course when required by site practice.
  • One (1) year recent, related experience or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification - Basic Life Support (BCLS) level

Skills and Abilities 

  • Demonstrated knowledge of standards of practice and guidelines for Medical Imaging practitioners established by the CAMRT and/or other relevant national professional associations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current MRI theory and practices within a client/family centered model of care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and practice of safe work procedures with medical imaging equipment.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of PACS/radiology information systems, i.e. digital imaging, image archiving and retrieval.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop procedure protocols and manuals.
  • Demonstrated skill in MRI techniques and the use of applicable equipment and supplies.
  • Demonstrated ability in CPR techniques.

Your Day to Day:

  • Performs MRI examinations according to established procedures, including completing requisitions, positioning patients, explaining procedures, and operating imaging equipment.
  • Monitors patients during procedures, responds to potential emergencies, and performs CPR if necessary.
  • Conducts image studies using MRI equipment, checks patient identification, and reports equipment malfunctions.
  • Facilitates workflow by ensuring requisition information meets standards, regulating examination time, and coordinating porters.
  • Performs quality control tasks, schedules equipment tests, records results, and reports equipment issues to the supervisor.
  • Participates in Continuous Quality Improvement programs, conducts quality assurance checks, and monitors departmental protocols.
  • Maintains designated work area by cleaning equipment, stocking supplies, and notifying the supervisor of equipment needs.
  • Demonstrates procedures and equipment usage to staff, participates in orientation of new employees.
  • Enters data into radiology and hospital information systems, responds to inquiries from clinical areas, and compiles workload statistical reports.
