Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $49.20/Hr. - CAD $63.47/Hr.

Summary

The Urban Health team continues to grow! If you’re looking for your next leadership opportunity and have interest in with patients who are experiencing substance use disorder, we are looking to add Clinical Nurse Leaders/Nurse Educators to the team. No previous experience in substance use is required – we provide comprehensive training. Some roles will float around the various units within Providence Health Care alongside the Addictions Medicine Care Team (AMCT) while others will be dedicated to specific units within Urban Health, such as:

  • Lighthouse
  • 8A Medicine/Infectious Diseases
  • Road to Recovery

Reporting to the Patient Care Manager and receiving work direction from the Director, Professional Practice & Nursing or designate, you will coordinate the day-to-day operations of a designated nursing unit or service and supervise staff. You will act as a clinical resource to nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members, providing direct care to patients as needed. You will assist in promoting research and quality improvement initiatives within the program. Additionally, you will provide visible, accessible clinical support to nursing staff, develop, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff and patients/families, and perform direct nursing care when required.

What You Bring

  • Registration with the BC College of Nurses and Midwives as a practicing RN registrant, with three years of recent related experience in a clinical specialty or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • For vacancies in mental health and extended/intermediate care services, registration as a practicing RN or RPN registrant.
  • Ability to coach and supervise, match skills of staff with clinical needs, and role model conflict resolution strategies.
  • Knowledge of CPR procedures appropriate for the area of service and the ability to carry out the physical duties of the position.
  • Skills in identifying learning needs, developing educational programs and materials, understanding adult education principles, and effectively communicating and working within an interdisciplinary team.

Your Day to Day:

  • Supervision and Coordination: Collaborate with the Patient Care Manager and Physician Leader(s) to develop and monitor the unit/service. Supervise staff, coordinate day-to-day activities, manage staffing issues, and authorize overtime shifts.
  • Clinical Resource: Act as a clinical resource for nursing staff, students, and interdisciplinary team members. Provide consultation, demonstrate procedures, answer practice-related questions, and troubleshoot care issues.
  • Education and Training: Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff and patients. Provide formal education, coaching, and role modeling. Participate in the design and evaluation of hospital-wide educational programs.
  • Policy and Program Development: Review and update policies and procedures. Develop and evaluate patient education programs. Lead group sessions and coach patients/families on health-promoting behaviors. Promote research findings in practice and support quality improvement initiatives.
  • Direct Patient Care: Perform direct nursing care, including physical assessments, medication administration, and treatment. Monitor patient progress, adjust care plans, participate in multi-disciplinary rounds, and provide input on patient outcomes. Maintain documentation and provide reports to improve clinical education services.
