Salary

The salary range for this position is CAD $40.75/Hr. - CAD $50.87/Hr.

Summary

Reporting to the Professional Practice Leader, Clinical Nutrition or the Operations Leader, under the clinical direction of the Professional Practice Leader prescribes, implements, evaluates and documents the appropriate patient/resident nutritional care plan in accordance with professional standards and within the Mission, Vision, Values and strategic direction of Providence Health Care. 

 

What You Bring

Education: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Food and Nutrition from a recognized University. 
  • Completion of a dietetic internship from an accredited program. 
  • Current full registration as a Dietitian with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC).
  • May be required to perform Restricted Activities A, B, &/or C as listed on the posting. 
  • Parenteral duties associated with Restricted Activity B coded up to Grade 2 per Operating Instructions. 

Skills & Abilities:  

  • Effective communication skills with patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and healthcare providers. 
  • Understanding of healthcare legislation and government policies. 
  • Proficiency in conducting patient/resident assessments. 
  • Knowledge of various healthcare disciplines and their roles in patient/resident care. 
  • Ability to gather relevant information beyond initial concerns. 
  • Collaborative teamwork skills within an interdisciplinary setting. 
  • Participation in research activities. 
  • Capability to provide guidance to students. 
  • Development and delivery of in-services and presentations.

 Your Day to Day: 

  • Evaluate nutritional status/risk, develop, implement, evaluate, and document appropriate care plans. 
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary patient/resident care and program-related discussions. 
  • Instruct/counsel patients/residents and families on diet modifications and lifestyle changes. 
  • Determine, refer, and liaise with community nutritional resources as needed. 
  • Participate in quality improvement activities, providing input into procedures, standards, and assessment tools. 
  • Complete patient/resident documentation and workload statistics. 
  • Organize in-service education, prepare materials, and make presentations. 
  • Provide clinical education and supervision to students and interns. 
  • Stay updated on current developments in clinical nutrition through literature review and education. 
  • Support clinical research activities by generating questions, writing proposals, and participating in data collection and interpretation. 
  • Monitor and manage supplies and equipment, reporting malfunctions and arranging maintenance.
