The salary range for this position is CAD $42.56/Hr. - CAD $52.95/Hr.

Providence Health Care's Physiotherapy department is currently accepting new grad applications for our acute, rehab, and long-term care teams at various sites. Our Physios are key members of our Allied Health team, working closely with other Allied disciplines like Occupational Therapy and Speech Language Pathology as well as other members of our care teams to tackle the rewarding variety of treatment needs of the patient populations we serve. Your duties will include: 

  • Performing physiotherapy assessments and treatments, including patient education and follow-up, as well as planning and implementing patient/resident care programs to prevent or alleviate movement dysfunction. 
  • Educating patients/residents, families, and team members through various teaching methods.
  • Supporting clinical research activities and data collection. 
  • Maintaining patient/resident records in accordance with standards and policies.
  • Staying updated on developments in physiotherapy through professional literature and education program

What You Bring

Education: 

  • Current full registration as a Physiotherapist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC). Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred.

Skills & Abilities:  

  • Effective communication skills with patients/residents, families, staff, physicians, and other healthcare providers. 
  • Understanding of other healthcare disciplines and their roles in patient/resident care. 
  • Skill in eliciting information to understand patient/resident situations thoroughly. 
  • Proficiency in conflict resolution and guiding others through such issues. 
  • Participation in research activities. 
  • Capability to provide supervision and teaching to students. 
  • Development and delivery of in-services and presentations.

Your Day to Day: 

  • Performs physiotherapy assessment and treatment, including patient/resident education and follow-up, utilizing recognized physiotherapy techniques and practices.
  • Educates/counsels patients/residents, families and other team members through individual and/or group teaching methods such as one to one demonstration, in- services and provision of teaching materials.
  • Contributes to the care team by promoting an interdisciplinary approach to patient/resident care.
  • Provides clinical education and supervision to students as required.
  • Participates in the quality assurance activities of physiotherapy such as the development, implementation, and evaluation of written procedures, standards; forms and patient/resident education materials and goals and objectives.
  • Maintains patient/resident records by methods such as documenting patient/resident assessments, charting patient/resident information, preparing progress notes and reports in accordance with established standards, and policies and procedures to meet regulatory requirements and documenting for future reference.
  • Acts as a resource to staff regarding areas of physiotherapy practice, such as effective body mechanics, ergonomic assessments and back care.
  • Supports clinical research activities by generating questions, assisting in writing proposals, and participating in data collection and interpretation, within resources.
  • Maintains knowledge of current developments in physiotherapy by reviewing professional literature, consulting with other professionals, and actively participating in relevant education programs.
  • Provides work direction to support staff assigned to services area regarding treatment, preparation, and patient/resident related activities.
